Jalon Bibbs spent last season coaching the defensive line at Grand Valley State (D-II - MI), where the Lakers spent a good portion of the season as the #1 team in the country and entered the playoffs as the nation's top team.
Grand Valley was also home to one of the stingiest defenses in all of Division II football, and the FCS National Champs took note of that when time came to fill a position on that side of the ball.
After weeks of whispers in coaching circles, South Dakota State formally announced the addition of Bibbs as their new defensive line coach today.
Bibbs spent the past four seasons as a part of the Lakers staff under head coach Matt Mitchell, who recently left for the special teams coordinator job at Wisconsin. Offensive line coach Scott Wooster was tabbed as Mitchell's replacement in Allendale.
Before coming to Grand Valley, Bibbs spent two seasons as the defensive line coach at Northern State (D-II - SD), where he started off as a student assistant before working his way up.
