The regular season concluded, Deion Sanders waxed philosophical Friday afternoon after his second Colorado squad trampled woeful Oklahoma State, 52-0, for its ninth win of the season.
More than double the Buffaloes's four-win 2023 campaign; nine times that of its single-win '22 season that prompted the hiring of Sanders.
And a chance for just the second season of 10 or more wins for Colorado football in the past two-plus decades.
"Look how we rebounded," Deion Sanders said of his team's bounceback-performance after being handled last week by Kansas. "Look how we wiped our tears and got back up, got on the horse and yelled, ‘Giddy up!’
"I’m proud of our young men.”
So pleased that Coach Prime declared the Heisman Trophy race over and also revealed his expectations for Colorado's star players as it pertained to postseason play.
Sensational two-way Colorado star Travis Hunter snagged 10 passes for 116 yards and three touchdowns; he picked off a pass and broke up two others as he logged more than 100 plays in the win.
"I think Travis clinched the Heisman with his performance," Coach Prime said. "I think he made a lot of people aware how ignorant they were (with) his performance today."
Sanders praised the greater opportunities for his players that have derived from Colorado's turnaround success. He noted that multiple players have accepted invitations to postseason college all-star games but vowed the Buffaloes's stars would suit up for the team's postseason.
Colorado star quarterback Shedeur Sanders eclipsed the school's single-season passing yardage mark with a 438-yard effort that pushed him to 3,916 yards for the year.
"When you win, more of your young men get opportunities to go to the next level; nobody wants losers," said Coach Prime, who also praised Colorado super-fan Peggy Coppom. "But when you win, everyone looks the part. And we have several young men in the East-West Shrine Game. We’re probably going to have several more in the Hula Bowl.
"Our kids are going to play in our bowl game because that’s what we signed up to do. And we’re going to finish. We’re not going to tap out because that throws off the structure of next season."
