On Tuesday evening, Catholic HS (Baton Rouge, LA) head coach Gabe Fertitta joined us to do a segment on offensive line play.
Specifically, Fertitta talked about developing offensive lineman in zone and gap schemes and provided some great drills, film cut ups, and coaching points.
Among some of the specifics I took away from coach Fertitta's talk:
- short, effective phrases to prompt their blocking techniques (bench and power)
- Why offensive line is the least natural position in all of sports
- How overlapping on combo blocks in zone schemes has gone from a huge scheme no-no to something that they're actually teaching now, and why they've made that adjustment
Here is coach Fertitta's full clinic.
