Stan Zwiefel left behind some significant shoes to fill at Dubuque following his retirement after 14 seasons leading the program back in mid-November.
After a nationwide search, the program found their new head coach from within their own state borders.
In fact, they found him from within their own league - the American Rivers Conference.
Ryan Maiuri, who has served as the offensive coordinator at Central College (D-III - IA) since 2015, has accepted the head coaching job at Dubuque.
Maiuri leaves Central for his first head coaching job just a few seasons after setting 62 new offensive records and leading the country in seven different key statistics in 2021. That year, quarterback Blaine Hawkins won the Gagliardi Trophy, which is considered the Division III Heisman.
While calling the offense at Central, Maiuri played a key role in a program that went 62-17 overall and an impressive 46-13 in American Rivers Conference play.
In Dubuque's match up with Central earlier this year, Maiuri's offense lit up the scoreboard in a 55-16 game.
He takes over a program at Dubuque that went 5-5 last fall.
