The departure of Mike Elko after two seasons for the head coaching job at Texas A&M led the Blue Devils to hire Penn State defensive coordinator Manny Diaz.
Elko left with a 16-9 overall record, two straight bowl trips, and a 9-7 mark in ACC play.
The addition of Diaz, who led one college football's best defenses at Penn State, marked the second straight defensive-minded hire for the Blue Devils. Diaz brings with him head coaching experience after a 21-15 run at Miami from 2019-21, where he led to the 'Canes to three straight bowl games.
