Florida State and Jimbo Fisher have reached an agreement on a contract extension that will keep him in Tallahassee through the 2024 season.
The agreement also has options for additional years and will also keep Fisher among the highest paid coaches in college football, according the the release. Steve Berkowitz of USA Today shared the following tweets on Jimbo's new compensation structure.
VP and director of athletics Stan Wilcox added the following in the release:
“Coach Fisher has done an outstanding job in leading our football program, and is clearly one of the top coaches in college football. He is committed to maintaining the elite status of FSU football and we are fortunate and proud to secure him for the long term.”
Fisher, whose name continued to be a hot commodity this off season with the opening at LSU, added; "“I am proud to be the football coach at Florida State University, and I am happy we were able to reach a long-term contract to have our staff in place for a long time. We are committed to developing young men in all phases of their lives and we have the administrative staff in place to do this.
“Florida State is a special place and I look forward to continuing to build on our past success into the future.”
Fisher is 77-17 as the head coach of the Seminoles over the past seven seasons, winning nine games or more in each of his seasons in Tallahassee. The program is 9-3 this season, with a change to hit the elite double-digit win mark when they face Michigan in the Capital One Orange Bowl on December 30th.
