Tusculum University’s Install for Play Side Progressions to Block Movement in Wide Zones:When it comes to running the wide zone play at Tusculum University (TN), offensive line coach Ben Luther doesn’t talk much about footwork and attacking defenders. Instead, his teaching progression revolves around providing linemen with a toolbox that contains a technique to handle the five most common alignments presented, regardless of the front. The outside zone is a mainstay in the Pioneers system and averaged 5.1 yards per carry this season. In this exclusive clinic report from X&O Labs, Coach Luther reviews the play side block techniques he teaches to block the following alignments: head up defenders, normal alignment defender, outside alignment defenders, one gap removed defenders and back side shoulder defenders. X&O Labs will release this report next Tuesday. Get it sent directly to your email at 7 am EST Tuesday morning. This is a FREE service from X&O LabsGo here to get this report sent to your email.
