Edgewater (FL): After 45 years of coaching, defensive line coach Gary "Smitty" Smith has decided to retire.
Archbishop Carroll (PA): Archbishop Carroll is seeking qualified varsity assistant coaches for the 2016 season. This is a stipend position with no current openings in the school. Waupaca (WI): Head coach John Koronkiewicz, an inductee into the Wisconsin High School Coaches Hall of Fame, has retired from coaching.
Porter Ridge (NC): Independence HS (NC) head coachMichael Hertz has accepted the head coaching job at Porter Ridge HS. Independence HS offensive coordinator Johnathon Castator will join him, per source.
Kickapoo-La Forge (WI): Head coach Blake Herken has stepped down, per source.
Dr. Phillips (Orlando, FL): Dr. Phillips HS is a Class 8 School located in Orlando, FL with current openings for freshmen and JV head coaching positions. This is a Stipend Position, however, there are no current teaching jobs available in the school at this time but depending on certification positions will come available. Local Candidates are preferred. If you are an out of state candidate, please only apply if you have serious intentions on relocating in the next 1-3 months. Interested Varsity coaching experience is preferred but not mandatory. Must be willing to participate in workouts January-April 2:30-5:30, spring football in May, and summer workouts in June-July. American Fork (UT): American Fork HS is looking for a qualified candidate for the position of defensive coordinator. American Fork is a 5A high school (largest classification in Utah) located 25 miles south of Salt Lake City. Cleveland (NC): Cleveland HS is seeking a Varsity assistant football coach for the 2016-2017 season. A math teaching position is open currently and other teaching positions will be determined in the spring. A current teaching certificate or the ability to obtain one is required. The best candidate will be sought and the coaching position will be determined based on that candidates knowledge and skills as well as staff needs. Cleveland High is a highly successful program that averages 11 wins a season since it opened in 2010 and has won three consecuative conference championships. Wichita Northwest (KS): Wichita Northwest HS has an offensive assistant job opening. Position is for wide receivers with possible special teams coordinator. Hamden (CT): Hamden HS has named Tom Dyer their head coach. Dyer is the former Hillhouse HS (CT) head coach, where he won two state titles.
New Research: Are You Running the Right Plays? Post AFCA convention usually marks the beginning of a coaching staff’s self-scout evaluation period. Much of this assessment comes in the form of a progression, which measures the efficiency of each run/pass concept on offense and every front/pressure/coverage on defense. Ravenswood (TN): Ravenwood HS is looking for a head football coach. Ravenwood won the 6A state championship in 2015 and finished runner up in 2014. Potential candidates must demonstrate the ability to sustain a successful high school program. Preferred experience as a successful head coach or coordinator at the high school or college level. All teaching positions will be considered. Candidates must have or be able to obtain a Tennessee teaching certificate. Green Run (VA): Green Run High School in Virginia Beach, Virginia is looking for several assistants on the offensive side of the ball. Preference will be given to Offensive Line and WR coaches but coaching staff can be adjusted for highly qualified applicants. Willamette (OR): Willamette HS is seeking an OL/DL coach for the 2016 season. The ideal applicant will have experience coaching Offensive Lineman and Defensive Lineman. We will have a Math Teaching position open for sure at the High School. We could possibly have a Health Teaching opening, but that will be determined in March. St. Mary's Area (PA): Cameron County HS (PA) head coach Michael Kunes has resigned to accept a teaching position and offensive coordinator job at St. Mary's.
East Jackson (GA): East Jackson HS is seeking a defensive coordinator for the 2016-2017 school year. East Jackson HS is located 20 minutes from Athens and 25 minutes from Gwinnett County. Coordinator experience is preferred, but not mandatory. Jackson County Schools offer a very competitive coaching supplement and the teaching position is PE.
