Ahead of team's systematic evisceration Saturday of visiting Colorado, second-year Oregon coach Dan Lanning sent a strong message to his team inside its locker room.
In an all-access video shared on the ABC broadcast of the Ducks' Pac-12 home game against the Buffaloes and their ever-visible head coach, Deion Sanders, Lanning did not hold back.
"We’re rooted in substance; not flash," Lanning, his voice rising, said. "Today, we talk with our pads. We talk with our helmet! Every moment! The Cinderella story is over, men. Right?
"They’re fighting for clicks, we’re fighting for wins. There’s a difference. There’s a difference. This game ain’t gonna be played in Hollywood; it’s going to be played on grass. It’s going to be played on the grass. Let’s go!"
His Oregon squad up 35-0 at the half and in complete command against Coach Prime's initial Colorado team, Lanning continued to send a message that he expected more relentless work from his players.
"Not done yet; we're not satisfied," Lanning said in his on-field interview. "I hope all those people that have been watching every week are watching this week."
