A number of experts and analysts had Florida State as their choice to bring home the national championship, but after winning their first two games, they had their doors blown off by Louisville 63-20, really hurting their title hopes.
Then, after a 55-35 tune up game against USF, the Seminoles lost to North Carolina, effectively dashing those hopes of a national title.
Heading into a crucial in-state match up with Miami (FL), Jimbo Fisher decided something - most notably their effort - needed to change. So, according to Tomahawk Nation, he came up with a challenge in the form of a promise.
Fisher then had his guys sign the promise, and hang it up in their locker.
According to Tomahawk Nation, that promise read:
I PROMISE
As of October 4th, 2016 I promise to give Florida State Football my all. There will be no more loafs and no lack of effort. I will trust the process. I will do everything in my power to prepare and play for this team. Every play every day I will bring effort, enthusiasm, and pride in upholding the standards set forth by Florida State Football and I will allow myself to be corrected and coached.
