Kevin Sumlin arrested on DUI charge (Kevin Sumlin)

Maryland co-offensive coordinator Kevin Sumlin was arrested for driving under the influence early Saturday morning in Hillsborough County, Fla., as first reported by The Diamondback

The incident occurred around 1 a.m. on US Highway 301 in Tampa, Fla.

Sumlin refused a breathalyzer test, according to the report, which results in a suspension of his driver's license for at least one year. He pleaded not guilty and waived arraignment.

Maryland was off last weekend.

Sumlin joined Mike Locksley's Maryland staff in February. It's his first college coaching post since his 2018-20 stint as Arizona's head coach. Sumlin is best known for a 6-year run at Texas A&M that saw the program's 11-2 debut season and the school's first Heisman Trophy since 1957.

Sumlin spent 2022 as the head coach of the USFL's Houston Gamblers.
