Lincoln Riley is turning to the Mountain West to fill his tight ends / inside receivers job.
Per multiple reports tonight, Colorado State receivers coach Chad Savage is set to join the Trojans staff.
In LA, Savage will replace former tight ends coach Zach Hanson, who was elevated to offensive line coach following the departure of Josh Henson to Purdue for the offensive coordinator job.
Savage has been part of Jay Norvell's staff at Colorado State for three seasons, initially joining as tight ends coach before staff departures to Hawaii prompted Norvell to move Savage to receivers. He also spent a season with Norvell at Nevada in 2021, working with the tight ends.
With the Rams, he helped develop (and retain) Tory Horton into an All Conference receiver, leading the Mountain West in receiving yards and yards per game in 2022 while totaling more than 1,100 yards in both 2022 and 2023.
The past three seasons 247 has rated Savage as the Mountain West Conference's top recruiter, and - ironically enough - many of his top recruits came from the Los Angeles area, something Lincoln surely took note of.
