LSU's Board of Supervisors is set to approve a series of raises across the Tigers' athletics department, including multiple within the football program, according to the New Orleans Times-Picayune. The extensions and/or raises are scheduled to be formally approved on Friday.
Longtime strength coach Tommy Moffitt will receive a 2-year extension through 2022 with raises ranging from $80,000 to $120,000. His new salary will average $530,000 per year with bonuses up to $75,000.
Moffitt was an original hire of Nick Saban's staff in 2000 and has remained in purple and yellow through the Les Miles and Ed Orgeron regimes.
Offensive coordinator Steve Ensminger, whose job will be made easier by his new deputy Joe Brady, will receive a 1-year extension through the 2020 season; his salary will remain static at $800,000.
Elsewhere on the coaching staff, offensive line coach James Cregg is also up for a 1-year extension through the 2020 campaign. His $475,000 salary is not up for a raise.
Special teams coordinator Greg McMahon is also up for a 1-year extension through 2020. Unlike Ensminger and Cregg, McMahon is up for a raise, from $375,000 to $425,000.
The big winner on Friday will be Verge Ausberry, though. LSU's deputy AD is being promoted to executive deputy AD and executive director of external relations, which will more than double his salary from $230,000 to $511,000 per year. The reason for the massive raises would be because Ausberry will be paid in full for his dual roles: $261,000 as deputy AD and $250,000 as executive director of external relations.
