Memphis and head coach Ryan Silverfield have agreed on a new 5-year contract, the program announced Tuesday.
Silverfield will earn $2.2 million in 2024 and $2.25 million in 2025. He'll make a big jump to $2.5 million in 2026, with $100,000 raises in 2027 and '28. Incentives and bonuses were not disclosed, nor was the buyout structure.
Silverfield made $1.9 million in 2023 and was not set to reach the $2 million mark until 2025 under the terms of his previous 6-year, $11.25 million contract.
"We are extremely excited to make this commitment to Coach Silverfield to keep him leading our football program into the future," University of Memphis Vice President and Director of Intercollegiate Athletics Laird Veatch said. "Coach Silverfield guided the team to one of the best seasons in program history in 2023 and we believe he's laid the foundation to help Memphis ascend even higher in the expanded College Football Playoff era."
Silverfield spent three seasons as Memphis's offensive line coach and was promoted to head coach following Mike Norvell's departure for Florida State. He is 31-18 in four full seasons, peaking with a 10-3 mark and a Liberty Bowl victory in 2023.
"It's an honor and a privilege to be the head football coach at the University of Memphis," Silverfield said. "I am excited and appreciative of the commitment to continue moving forward with the progress of our football program."
