Michigan announces that they are down one coach (Featured)

Michigan announced today that they are down one defensive assistant coach.

Bob Shoop, who was hired back in January after serving as the defensive coordinator at Mississippi State under Joe Moorhead, reportedly hasn't been coaching with the team since September.

The school shared the following via a spokesman today:

"Bob Shoop is not working with the team in an on-field coaching capacity at this time. He is performing team-related duties remotely. In consideration of his privacy interests, we will have no further comment."

Shoop, a two-time Broyles Award finalist given to the top assistant coach in college football, signed a two-year deal back in January worth $450k this year and $550k next year, according to the Detroit News. The report adds that Shoop would owe 100% of the annual base salary if he were to leave before the end of the terms, and that special teams / defensive analyst Aashon Larkins has been working with the Wolverines safeties.

Shoop has prior experience calling defenses at Tennessee, Penn State, and Vanderbilt.
