Bruce Feldman tweets that Michigan and linebackers coach George Helow have mutually agreed to part ways to pursue other oppportunities.
Helow joined the Wolverines staff in 2021.
Head coach Jim Harbaugh hired former Ole Miss co-defensive coordinator and safeties coach Chris Partridge earlier this month, but already had 10 on-field assistants.
The move to mutually part ways with Helow now opens a spot on the defensive side of the ball for the Wolverines.
Prior to arriving in Ann Arbor, Helow served as special teams coordinator and inside linebackers coach at Maryland, and spent a few seasons on the defensive staff at Colorado State prior to that.
After getting his start as a defensive intern at Alabama under Nick Saban in 2012, Helow went on to serve as a graduate assistant at Florida State in 2013 and landed the safeties job at Georgia from 2014-15.
