Michigan State reportedly losing staffer to fellow Big Ten program (Demetrice Martin)

Jonathan Smith's program at Michigan State is set to lose an assistant to a fellow Big Ten program, according to multiple reports tonight.

Demetrice Martin, who served as the corners coach for the Spartans, is heading west to join the staff at UCLA.

With the Bruins, Martin is expected to oversee the Bruins entire secondary, per Stephen Brooks.

Before joining the staff in East Lansing, Martin coached the corners and served as passing game coordinator at Oregon.

Much of the coaching veterans roots are out west with former Pac-12 programs like USC, Washington, Arizona and Colorado.

He previously spent six seasons at UCLA, and has experience developing NFL Draft picks like Taylor Mays (USC), Desmond Trufant (Washington), and Christian Gonzalez (Colorado / Oregon).

His one season at MSU ended just missing bowl eligibility after a 5-7 debut season for Jonathan Smith and his staff.
