Michigan wins, plants flag at Ohio State sparking post-game skirmish (Michigan-Ohio State Fight)

In a season to largely forget, defending College Football Playoff champion Michigan showed one thing has held true: the Wolverines, right now, absolutely own Ohio State.

And in the process of the program's fourth-straight win in the season, second in three years at the Horseshoe, Michigan likely denied Ohio State a shot to play for the Big Ten Championship and ended the Buckeyes' hopes for the CFP's top overall seed.

First-year Michigan coach Sherrone Moore actually notched his second-straight win against the Buckeyes; he was the team's interim coach a year ago while Jim Harbaugh was suspended.

Once Wolverines planted their Block M flag at midfield upon the game's conclusion, Ohio State players showed as much fight as they did during four quarters of a lackluster, 13-10 defeat.

See footage of the skirmish below:

It also appeared law enforcement officers on the field during the skirmish pepper-sprayed players, including this video that shows Michigan's Mason Graham appear to be pepper-sprayed while trying to assist a teammate:

Ohio State likely will still be a CFP participant, but its best bet now is to hope it can host a game, perhaps as the No. 8 seed. The Buckeyes had been positioned to potentially be the No. 5 seed, even if they lost the Big Ten title bout.

Instead, for now, their final image at home this 2024 season is another Michigan win -- and That Team Up North's players all waving goodbye to them upon their home turf.

And Ohio State coach Ryan Day, who earlier this week said losing to Michigan had been one of the worst things to ever happen to his family, now will be facing even more hot-seat questions in Columbus.

Interviewed on-field by Fox after the game, Michigan's Kalel Mullings sent a direct message to the Buckeyes:

"They gotta learn how to lose," he said.

This field-level video of the fracas shows the intensity of the melee:
