Mike Gundy told the world on a recent ESPN appearance with Pat McAfee that he couldn't mess up his interview with McAfee because he never wasted time with coach-speak.
Gundy proved golden at the microphone once again Saturday, after his No. 17 Oklahoma State team raced past FCS powerhouse South Dakota State, 44-20.
Gundy was queried by media about whether or not he listened in on the all-new, in-helmet communications between a player and coach that debuted this season in college football.
"I can’t. They wont’ let me hear it," Gundy said with a smirk. "If anybody’s a good IT guy (information technology) … We can get the guy from Michigan (Connor Stalions) down here and let him hook me up. Even though he didn’t do it."
Gundy followed up his clearly skeptical "didn't do it" comment with a strong turn-of-the-century hip-hop reference.
"What was that song, it was kind of a partial rap in the shower," Gundy asked reporters. "He caught me, I didn’t do it, it wasn’t me. That’s right, it wasn’t me.
"No, that was you. It wasn’t me."
Stalions and Michigan are still under investigation by the NCAA, which has delivered its Notice of Allegations that it says outlines Michigan's myriad transgressions from Stalions and current and former staff members.
Stalions was primarily the focus of a new Netflix documentary last week, 'Untold: Sign Stealer.'
Mike Gundy asked about helmet communications, and if he can hear what's being said.

"I can't. They won't let me hear it. If we can get a good IT guy, maybe that one from Michigan (Connor Stalions) that'd be good. Even though he didn't do it."
