Mike Houston and ECU continue to build staff with two strong hires (Eastern Michigan)

Following an 8-5 finish in his fourth season at ECU, Mike Houston continues to build out his offensive staff with some strong additions.

According to multiple reports last night, Eastern Michigan receivers coach Dyrell Roberts is expected to join Mike Houston's staff where he will coach the outside receivers.

Roberts becomes the second member of Eastern Michigan's offensive staff that has left in the past few weeks following their 9-win season, joining running backs coach Sam Sewell who left for a position in the NFL with the Arizona Cardinals.

Also, Matt Zenitz adds that ECU senior analyst Aaron Auer is expected to get elevated to fill the inside receivers coach position.

Before joining the ECU staff, Auer served in an offensive quality control role at Georgia.

After two rebuilding seasons with four wins in 2019 and three-wins in the COVID-impacted 2020 season, Houston and ECU have surged to 15 wins in the past two seasons with finishes of 7-5 and 8-5.

With a retooled staff under offensive coordinator Donnie Kirkpatrick, who has been with the program since Houston's hire prior to that 2019 season, Houston enters year five with the program 22-24 overall with an impressive head coaching record of a 102-49 with prior stops at Lenoir-Rhyne, The Citadel,  and James Madison.
