Head coach Danny Gonzales has announced a coordinator change on his staff at New Mexico.
Jamie Christian, who has been on staff as the team's special teams coordinator the past four seasons, has been relieved of his duties.
Christian, who was an original member of the staff for Gonzales, also assisted with the offense. In 2022 he coached the team's running backs.
The team shares that special teams duties will be spread among the staff for the remainder of the season.
On Saturday, against UNLV, the Lobos gave up more punt return yards (161) that they had given up total in the seven games prior (160).
Before joining the Lobos staff, he spent three seasons on staff at Fresno State where he coordinated the special teams and coached the running backs.
He has also previously coordinated the special teams at Houston and Arizona State, and also spent time on staffs at Oregon State, Northern Arizona, with the San Francisco 49ers, and at Sacramento State, Idaho, and UNLV.
