2 years as a grad assistant...four years later an NFL DC

Really, the title says it all.

Word is breaking this afternoon that the Seahawks are promoting defensive backs coach Kris Richard to defensive coordinator. Two weeks ago, on FootballScoop radio Scott discussed this likelihood.

Richard's entire coaching career is:

2008 - 2009: Defensive grad assistant at USC

2010: Assistant defensive backs - Seattle

2011 - 2014: Defensive backs - Seattle

2015: Defensive Coordinator - Seattle

That's some inspiration for all of the grad assistants out there. It's all about timing in this profession. That, and latch on to an upwardly mobile head coach.
