Shelton HS (WA) head coach Mark Smith had been a head coach Shelton HS (WA) for 25 years, but that run came to an end with his resignation recently after a controversial off season drill.
King 5 in Washington shares that back in late January, Smith and football coaches came into a weight lifting class and took players to the wrestling room.
There, they participated in an unsanctioned tackling drill that involved no pads or helmets for about 30 minutes.
That drill resulted in a number of head injuries, including at least one concussion, some broken bones, and a dislocated finger, according to the report.
An investigation has been underway and families shared with the local news that some of them impacted are considering further legal action.
Meanwhile, the school has posted the head coaching position.
