A missed field goal during a tie won the game for a team last night (CFL)

The CFL has a host of crazy rules that make very little sense to us that watch high school, college, and NFL games every chance we get.

From onside punts to dribble kicks that reset the down and distance, there are plenty of things that league to our north does that makes little sense to the rest of football fans.

Here's one more to add to that list.

Last night, the Toronto Argonauts and the Sakatchewan Roughriders battled to a 19-19 tie.

With one second left in regulation, the Argos lined up for a field goal. The kick just missed the mark, going just outside the left upright, yet the Argos players were celebrating the miss.

Watching the replay, I couldn't make sense of it.

Then the announcers provide an explanation, alluding to the CFL rule that states missed field goal attempts that go out the back of the end zone count for one point.

Apparently, in the CFL, winning the game this way is called a "walk-off rouge."
