A Tradition unlike any other: GameDay, Masters joining together (LSU)

A Tradition Unlike … anything we've seen before.

Augusta National Golf Club on Tuesday announced that it is hosting ESPN's College Football Gameday next month in conjunction with The Masters, rescheduled to its first-ever fall weekend in the wake of the early onset of the COVID-19 pandemic.

The Masters opens Thursday, Nov. 12, and GameDay is set to be live prior to Round 3 on Saturday.

“Given the circumstances brought about by the pandemic, the delivery of quality content is as important as ever to the storytelling of The Masters Tournament,” August chairman Fred Ridley said in a release from the exclusive club. “While we will dearly miss our patrons at Augusta National this fall, we are excited to showcase what promises to be a truly memorable Masters in a variety of ways for viewers around the world.”

Augusta National, in the release, revealed that ESPN's GameDay set would be set up adjacent to the club's famed par-3 course, overlooking the 9th green on the nine-hole-course and Ike's Pond.

Notable games that weekend in college football include: No. 2 Alabama vs. defending champion LSU; No. 3 Ohio State at Maryland; No. 4 Notre Dame at Boston College; No. 5 Georgia at Missouri; No. 9 Wisconsin at No. 13 Michigan; No. 18 Penn State at Nebraska and No. 21 USC at Arizona.

Our Zach Barnett is pretty good at predicting where College GameDay will go each week; but even Zach didn't predict ESPN would make this call.
