After his team had toppled last season's College Football Playoff runner-up TCU in the Horned Frogs' own stadium Saturday afternoon, Deion Sanders had a succinct message.
Interviewed on Fox amidst players and the Buffaloes' celebration of their come-from-behind, 45-42 win, Coach Prime issued a simple statement.
"We told you we're coming," Sanders proclaimed. "You thought we were joking, but guess what?
"We keep receipts! God bless you, America. God is good!"
Sheduer Sanders, Prime's son and Colorado's starting quarterback, shattered records with his 510-yard, four-touchdown performance in his Football Bowls Subdivision debut. Shedeur Sanders had previously helmed the Jackson State offense, which helped JSU win consecutive SWAC titles under Deion Sanders.
The Colorado quarterback also had some bold words postgame to Fox.
"Nobody believed in us, man, and it just showed me a lot about how people is," Shedeur Sanders told Jenny Taft. "I think they let names and Power 5 and stuff get to their heads.
"That's the highest passing yards I've had in my life. ... I was just at an HBCU."
Not only did the Buffaloes win after being tabbed by oddsmakers as three-touchdown underdogs, they outgained the host Horned Frogs, 561-541, committed fewer penalties (six; TCU had 10) and also had just one turnover to TCU's two giveaways.
The contest marked a second-straight putrid performance from TCU's defense. The Horned Frogs were run out of the CFP title game by Georgia, 65-7, in January; they've now surrendered 110 points in their last eight quarters.
