DaVante Parker was at one time the Miami Dolphins' top receiving threats. He caught 56 balls in 2016, his second season as a pro, and 57 in 2018. Through nearly half of the 2018 campaign, Parker has caught two passes for 40 yards.
Fins head coach Adam Gase has said Parker's usage has been down because he's battled injuries, a broken finger and a quad ailment. Parker's agent Jimmy Gould says that's hogwash.
“I find the decision to make DeVante inactive today by Coach Gase incompetent and insulting. It’s also just not true and I am sick of hearing him say my player is not healthy. This is the third game this year that DeVante should have played in when you include the Jets and [New England]. DeVante is healthy and with injuries and [the Dolphins’] 6.1 [YPC], DeVante could have and should have been allowed to contribute," he told NFL.com.
“What a horrific decision by Coach Gase and he needs to take a very long look in the mirror and make himself inactive.”
Gould held even less back to ESPN:
"Coach Gase is incompetent -- period -- and not telling the truth when it comes to DeVante, who is totally healthy and was needed big-time today," agent Jimmy Gould said. "This is the third game he has done this to DeVante this year. It's sickening and a grossly unfair characterization of my client."
Not often you see an agent go after a sitting NFL head coach like this.
