As far as most are concerned, few programs have done the alternate helmet game better than our nation’s service academies.
Navy stole the show a few years ago with custom hand-painted helmets with a different battleship and explanation for each position group. Air Force also rolled out a fighter jet “Sharktooth” design last year as well that was pretty popular.
This year, Air Force is making waves with helmets modeled after the F-35 pilot helmet, and they’re calling them “Air Power Legacy”. One side will feature the Air Force logo and the other side of the helmet will be one of five different decals representing F-35 fighter squadrons. These are #1 in a series of 5.
That means there are four more designs to be unveiled, along with a new uniform to match, which should add plenty of excitement for fans, current players, and recruits.
