Zippy has been Akron’s official mascot since the 1950’s but, other than a few dalliances in the last decade or so, the Zips’ helmets have been decidedly kangaroo-free.

That could change soon.

Akron’s video staff tweeted photos of three helmets the Zips are considering for the 2015 season, and two of them include kangaroos. One features Zippy’s full profile in mid-bounce, the other features nothing but a silhouette of Zippy’s head taken from behind like some sort of off-brand youth apparel store logo, and a third option is your standard numbered helmet.

Akron should definitely go with option 1 or 2. Any time you have the opportunity to put a kangaroo on your helmet, you have to do it.
