Alabama-LSU postponed (LSU)

Alabama-LSU will not be played this weekend, the SEC announced Tuesday.

This possibility first became public on Monday, when Ed Orgeron told reporters the Tigers were dealing with an outbreak on their team.

After playing 14 of 14 scheduled games in the past three weeks, the SEC has now postponed three games scheduled for Nov. 14 so far this week. Auburn-South Carolina was pushed Monday from Nov. 14 to Dec. 12, and Texas A&M-Tennessee was also postponed Tuesday.

This will be the second postponed LSU game of this season and the first for Alabama. LSU's road trip to Florida was already pushed back to Dec. 12 due to virus issues at Florida.

That Dec. 12 game will make rescheduling the Tide-Tigers game more difficult. The glut of postponements may force the SEC to schedule regular season games alongside the conference championship on Dec. 19.

"Based on the number of student-athletes unavailable due to positive tests, contact tracing, and non-COVID injuries, we will not have the minimum number of scholarship players necessary to play on Saturday," LSU AD Scott Woodward said. "We are disappointed there will be no football in Tiger Stadium this weekend, but we will always prioritize the health and wellness of our student-athletes. We will continue to follow the league's protocols in order to safely and responsibly return to play."

The game was set to be broadcast on CBS at a rare 6 p.m. ET broadcast, following CBS's Saturday coverage of The Masters. CBS will not air a game this weekend, according to AL.com's John Talty.
