Alabama offensive coordinator Ryan Grubb expected to leave for same role with Seahawks (Seahawks)

Mike Macdonald is set to make a major splash for his offensive coordinator role as the youngest head coach in the NFL.

Multiple reports late last night, beginning with Adam Schefter, share that Macdonald is landing Alabama offensive coordinator Ryan Grubb as his new offensive coordinator.

The move back to Seattle is a return for Grubb, who spent last season as Kalen DeBoer's offensive coordinator at Washington before spending the past month with the Tide.

Before the start of the 2023 season, Nick Saban made a run at Grubb to be his offensive coordinator in Tuscaloosa, but Grubb opted to stay in Seattle and in turn helped the Huskies to a record setting season where they played for the national title.

Now, he's essentially walking away from the Alabama offensive play caller opportunity a second time.

He's not the only coach Alabama is expected to lose.

Per multiple reports, the staff is expected to lose offensive line coach Scott Huff as well, who also followed DeBoer and Grubb from Washington.

New Alabama assistants Nick Sheridan (TEs) and JaMarcus Shephard (WRs) remain on staff, and reports share that it's likely that they say on with co-offensive coordinator titles. Sheridan has previous experience as a play caller at Indiana and could also move to quarterbacks, the same position he worked with while with the Hoosiers.
