Arizona, Fisch tab former UCLA, NFL assistant for key role

New Arizona head coach Jedd Fisch has made a major move on the defensive side of the ball.

Fisch has tabbed DeWayne Walker, sources told FootballScoop, to become the new corners / nickels coach at Arizona, as Fisch – hired late last month – works towards completing his first Wildcats' staff.

A former head coach at New Mexico State University, Walker's also got Power-5 experience as a defensive coordinator and also an extended stint as an assistant coach in the NFL. Walker logged seven years between the Jacksonville Jaguars and Cleveland Browns, from 2013-2019, as defensive backs coach within each organization.

Walker also boasts deep ties in the state of California. He's a Los Angeles native who attended high school in Pasadena before he played in college at the University of Minnesota.

Additionally, Walker has past experience in the Pac-12 at both California and Southern Cal, in addition to his work for three seasons as UCLA's defensive coordinator from 2006-08.

Chuck Cecil will coach the safeties.
