Early this morning, as national signing day began across college football, Ball State announced their new head coach.
Mike Uremovich, who spent the past three seasons just over an hour up the road from Muncie at Butler (FCS - IN), has been tabbed to lead the program.
Three years ago, Uremovich took over at Butler, and he has led the Bulldogs to three-straight winning seasons and a 23-11 record. The three-straight winning seasons is something the program hadn't experienced since the late 80's
Last year's 9-3 finish resulted in th first national ranking it Butler football history, rising as high as 23rd in the country. They fielded a top 10 FCS defense in points allowed (4th) as well as offensively in points scored (9th).
He previously spent six seasons in the MAC during three different stints at Northern Illinois, where the Huskies put together an impressive 25-7 run in conference play. While he worked in a variety of roles including running backs coach, and special teams coordinator, he most recently served as offensive coordinator for the Huskies 2016-18.
Before taking the Butler job, Uremovich was the offensive coordinator at Temple for three seasons and also coached the offensive line at NC State for three years.
The opportunity at Ball State marks his third head coaching opportunity, with his first coming during a seven-year run at St. Francis (NAIA - IL), where he led a rebuild that resulted in the program's most successful season in school history with a 10-win season and were ranked as high as 8th nationally.
Uremovich becomes the second coach from the Pioneer League to take over an FBS program this cycle, joining Davidson's Scott Abell, who has taken over at Rice.
