Ben McAdoo has been dismissed by the New York Giants

The New York Giants are relieving head coach Ben McAdoo of his duties after a 2-10 start to his second season.

General Manager Jerry Reese is also being let go, per report.

The decision comes on the heels of McAdoo making the difficult, and wildly unpopular,, decision to break Eli Manning's streak of 210 straight games started.

According to reports, ownership was very unhappy with the way the organization was portrayed publicly after that decision, and made the call to pull the plug and start fresh.

Before Sunday's game, Adam Schefter hinted that a change could be on the way.

Defensive coordinator, and former Rams head coach, Steve Spagnuolo is taking over as interim head coach, and assistant GM Kevin Abrams will take over GM duties for the rest of the season.

McAdoo took over the franchise after the Giants decided to part ways with Tom Coughlin two seasons ago. McAdoo was on Coughlin's staff as the offensive coordinator, so the organization was hoping for a smooth transition.

The Giants quietly finished the 2016 season under McAdoo with an 11-5 record, tying the franchise record for most regular season wins by a first-year head coach, before losing in the the Wild Card round to the Green Bay Packers.

The 2017 season has been a rocky one, as the Giants share the worst record in the NFC with the San Francisco 49ers at 2-10. Overall, McAdoo went 13-15 as head coach of the Giants.

The move marks the first head coaching change at the NFL level for the year.
