Bill Belichick will not coach in 2024, but it's far more likely than not he'll coach in 2025 as he remains 15 wins shy of breaking Don Shula's NFL record. And so there is the question of how Belichick will spend the first fall of his adult life away from an NFL sideline.
The Athletic reports that Belichick has taken meetings with CBS and NBC, but the 6-time Super Bowl-winning head coach has made it clear he's not interested in joining either's studio show. Fox remains a possibility, especially as the network gears up to air the Super Bowl in February, but the most intriguing possibility is Belichick teaming up with a former foil.
According to the site, Peyton Manning is pursuing Belichick to join Omaha Productions.
The idea is that Belichick and Omaha would be a good match. Belichick wouldn't have to spend 20 straight Sundays trapped in a studio for 12 hours; Omaha would produce content that would play more to Belichick's strengths: deep diving into the schematics of the game.
Think of more stuff like Belichick's work on NFL Films and NFL Networks' "NFL 100 All-Time Team" series.
Belichick is notoriously dour when forced to broach subjects he doesn't want to talk about, but when given the opportunity to speak about something that interests him, especially the history of football? The guy won't shut up.
Joining Omaha would also open the possibility of teaming with Nick Saban for a coaching version of ESPN and Omaha's Manningcast.
Any avenue of getting Saban and Belichick together to talk football is an idea that should be explored to its fullest extent for the betterment of the game, so here's hoping it happens.
