North Carolina head coach Bill Belichick -- it still feels weird to say that -- is targeting Las Vegas Raiders offensive coordinator Scott Turner for the same role in Chapel Hill, according to Ian Rapoport of NFL Network.
Turner is serving as Vegas's OC on an interim basis after head coach Antonio Pierce fired offensive coordinator Luke Getsy, quarterbacks coach Rich Scangarello, and offensive line coach James Cregg last month. Turner was the passing game coordinator prior to that. The Raiders are 2-11 on the season, undoubtedly motivating Turner to find a new home for 2025.
The son of longtime NFL head coach and offensive coordinator Norv Turner, Turner was the Washington Commanders' offensive coordinator from 2020-22, and also has college experience at Oregon State, Pittsburgh and Michigan.
Freddie Kitchens and Mike Lombardi have already joined Belichick's staff in Chapel Hill, and over the weekend 4-star quarterback Bryce Baker affirmed his commitment to the Tar Heels.
