Blake Anderson is working on another quality addition to the defensive staff that he has familiarity with from his days at Arkansas State.
Sources tell FootballScoop that Buffalo defensive line coach Cedric Douglas is finalizing a deal to join Anderson's staff at Utah State.
We understand his role will be defensive line coach / run game coordinator.
Douglas is fresh off participating in the latest prestigious AFCA 35 Under 35 class.
Douglas previously served in a graduate assistant role under Anderson at Arkansas State, helping them reach back-to-back bowl games in 2017 and 2018 working with the defensive line. He and Dreiling also briefly coached together earlier in their careers.
The hire is the latest of a defensive makeover for Anderson in Logan, as he recently brought in New Mexico State's Nate Dreiling as his new defensive coordinator, along with Jalen Ortiz, who had joined the NMSU staff as corners coach earlier this month.
The move to Utah State to reunite with Blake Andersen is the latest in a remarkable journey for Douglas, who just 11 years ago was working as a night janitor to help make ends meet during the start of his coaching journey.
He becomes the second member of the Buffalo defensive staff to leave recently, as defensive coordinator Robert Wright left for the co-defensive coordinator / linebackers opportunity at Syracuse.
