Bo Davis reportedly expected to spurn LSU, remain at Texas (LSU Defensive Coordinator Search)

Texas defensive line coach Bo Davis is expected to remain in Austin following a pursuit from LSU, according to a report Friday from Bobby Burton of On Texas Football.

Sources told FootballScoop that LSU had placed nabbing Davis as an equal or greater priority to hiring a new defensive coordinator.

Davis was a Second Team All-SEC nose guard for the Tigers in 1992. He began his career as a strength and conditioning assistant for the Tigers in 1995, then returned in 2002 as a strength coach on Nick Saban's staff.

Davis developed T'Vondre Sweat into the 2023 Outland Trophy winner as the top interior lineman, offense or defense, in college football. Sweat also won the Big 12 Defensive Player of the Year award, and nose guard Byron Murphy was named the Big 12 Defensive Lineman of the Year.

For those exploits, prior winners selected Davis as the 2023 FootballScoop Defensive Line Coach of the Year

Davis earned $1 million in 2023, and with that salary carried a significant buyout for a position coach.

Davis and the rest of the Texas staff will likely earn raises following a breakthrough season for the Longhorns.
