Bobby Wilder will not return at Old Dominion, FootballScoop can confirm. The news was first reported by Yahoo's Pete Thamel.
Wilder made a public pitch to keep his job following the Monarchs' season-ending loss to Charlotte on Saturday, but it was not enough to overcome the team's 1-11 record.
Wilder has been the only head coach ODU football has ever known, starting the program in 2007. He led the Monarchs from an FCS independent to Conference USA; the club won a share of the C-USA East title in 2016.
FootballScoop provided a look at the ODU job, as the search to find the second Old Dominion coach will generate plenty of interest.
