Brent Musburger has reached a multi-year extension to stay with ESPN and the SEC Network
Brent Musburger, the legendary announcer who has been a staple of college football and basketball for nearly five decades, has reached an agreement on a multi-year contract extension with ESPN and "will remain the signature college football voice of the SEC Network," according to a release from The Worldwide Leader.
“This agreement will help build upon one of the most extraordinary careers in all of sports. The impact that Brent’s work has had on generations of sports fans is immeasurably positive and we are thrilled he will continue to be a significant part of the ESPN family, including the SEC Network," ESPN executive VP of production and programming John Wildhack noted in the release.
Musburger, who is 77 years old, was the first voice that viewers heard when the SEC Network debuted in 2014. Prior to joining ESPN in 1990, he worked with CBS as their top sportscaster.
As a result of the new deal, Musburger's prime time partnership with fellow analyst Jesse Palmer will continue, and he will also continue as a play-by-play commentator for weekly basketball games on ESPN.
