Bret Bielema and Illinois reportedly to hire former Houston assistant (Archie McDaniel)

Following the season, Bret Bielema decided to reshape the defensive staff, parting ways with Antonio Fenelus (DBs) and Andy Buh (LBs).

Yesterday, outside linebackers coach / pass rush coordinator Charlie Bullen formally was announced as part of the Giants staff, marking a return to the NFL for him after previous working for the Cardinals.

Today, a report shares that Bielema has one defensive replacement lined up.

Per Matt Zenitz, Bielema is set to add Archie McDaniel as linebackers coach.

McDaniel spent the past three seasons on Dana Holgersen's staff at Houston coaching the linebackers.

A member of four FBS staffs since 2010, McDaniel started his coaching journey in major college football on the offensive side of the ball at Tulsa with the tight ends and H-backs before moving defensive line with the Golden Hurricane a year later.

He's got additional stops working with the defensive line and linebackers at New Mexico, SMU, and Texas State as well.
