Browns' Mayfield: I hate missed throws, lying & skim milk

The Cleveland Browns are having quite the season, knocking off the Jacksonville Jaguars Sunday in Florida to maintain a spot in a tie for the AFC's third-best record at 8-3.

The Browns trail only unbeaten Pittsburgh (10-0) and one-loss Kansas City (10-1) and share the third-place spot with AFC East-leading Buffalo and AFC South-leading Tennessee with eight wins. The Browns would be the top Wild-Card team in that scenario.

So after Sunday's win, in which Baker Mayfield completed 19 of 29 passes and tossed a pair of touchdowns, Cleveland's up-and-down quarterback deadpanned some levity into his post-game press conference when asked about missing a wide open Rashard Higgins for what should have been an easy touchdown.

Mayfield channeled his inner Ron Swanson when asked if he had expected such a tight contest with the Jaguars, who at 1-10 own the second-worst record in the NFL behind the winless New York Jets.

“I really feel like we left a lot of points on the board, I truly do,” Mayfield said in his postgame comments. “There was a ton of missed opportunities from my perspective, lot of missed throws.

“There's only two things I hate more than missing throws, and that's lying and skim milk. And skim milk's just water lying about being skim milk. So, gotta make those throws.”

Actor Nick Offerman first used the skim milk quote on an episode of NBC's Parks and Recreation sitcom.
