Buffalo Bills extend GM Brandon Beane, head coach Sean McDermott (Brandon Beane)

The Buffalo Bills on Friday announced the organization has signed general manager Brandon Beane and head coach Sean McDermott to extensions through the 2027 season. Terms were not disclosed.

Working in tandem since 2017, Beane and McDermott have generated the best run of Bills football since the club won four straight AFC championships in the early 1990s.

Since 2019, Buffalo is 47-18 in the regular season with four consecutive playoff berths, three straight AFC East titles, and four playoff victories. The club reached the AFC Championship in 2020, its first since 1993, and has appeared in the divisional round in three straight seasons.

McDermott (62 wins) will likely pass Lou Saban (70) for second most in franchise history this fall.

"Sean is a proud, Christian, determined man," Bills owner Terry Pegula said. "I remember before his interview for the Bills head coaching job thinking about him being a two-time National Prep Wrestling Champ. I thought to myself, you wrestled, you're determined, you love what you're doing, and you won. He comes to the Bills every day and will never ask anyone, player or coach, to do anything he wouldn't do."

"Brandon is a very competitive person," Pegula said. "I know he likes to win, but I also know he hates to lose. He's not afraid to say what he's thinking and if he disagrees with something he will say so, even to the owner. I love it. He, Sean, Kim and I have a very good relationship with open discussions, debate and a lot of communication."

Prior to their 2017 hirings in Buffalo, Beane and McDermott worked in No. 2 roles in Carolina. Beane spent 19 seasons in Carolina, the last two as assistant GM, while McDermott was the Panthers' defensive coordinator from 2011-16.
