With a single key hire, Charles Huff is adding some key Big Ten and SEC experience to his staff.
Bruce Feldman tweets this morning that Huff is expected to hire Mississippi State director of recruiting Mike Villagrana in a general manager type role.
We can confirm the move.
Villagrana followed Joe Moorhead from Happy Valley to Starkville a few years ago as director of recruiting, and stuck around during the transition from Moorhead to Mike Leach.
A former West Virginia tight end, Villagrana originally joined the Penn State staff in 2015 and served as director of recruiting for James Franklin.
Prior to Penn State, Villagrana served as the tight ends coach and assistant offensive line coach at Hampton (FCS - VA).
His presence will provide some deep regional recruiting ties in the area, and bring a valuable perspective to the staff in the unique GM role so manye are utilizing to modernize the needs of their staffs.
