Charlotte is expected to hire Ohio head coach Tim Albin, ESPN's Pete Thamel reported Saturday. Albin is working toward signing a 5-year contract.
Earlier in the day, Albin led Ohio to a 38-3 win over Miami (Ohio) in the MAC Championship, capturing the program's first conference championship since 1968.
Overall, Albin is 58-27 as a head coach. He went 25-8 with an NAIA national championship from 1979-99 at Northwestern Oklahoma State and 33-19 over four seasons at Ohio.
He'll take over a Charlotte program looking for direction. Charlotte is 47-90 under three different head coaches since restarting football in 2013.
