Chip Kelly could be in line for Commanders offensive coordinator job (Chip Kelly Washington Commanders)

One Power 4 head coach has taken an NFL coordinator job this week, and another could be soon behind him.

Following Jeff Hafley leaving Boston College to run the Green Bay Packers defense, UCLA head coach Chip Kelly could be in line to become the Washington Commanders offensive coordinator.

Kelly, the former Philadelphia Eagles and San Francisco 49ers head coach, has been eyeing NFL coordinator gigs for some time now

The Commanders hired Cowboys defensive coordinator and former Falcons head coach Dan Quinn as their head coach on Thursday

If it comes to pass, Hafley and Kelly's departures would have interesting parallels.

Though both coaches have expressed dissatisfaction with the current state of the college game -- truly, who is satisfied with college football today? -- both Hafley and Kelly have prior ties to the NFL, and both are or were in charge of programs that are largely treading water. Hafley was 22-26 overall and 12-22 in ACC play in his four seasons at BC. Kelly is 35-34 in six seasons at UCLA, and went 26-26 in Pac-12 play.

Kelly also interviewed for the Las Vegas Raiders offensive coordinator job, but that one went to Kliff Kingsbury.

As always, stay tuned to The Scoop for the latest.
