Update >> UCLA has formally announce Kelly's departure.
There has been smoke about Chip Kelly leaving UCLA for weeks, and now it appears a move is being made.
Multiple reports now have shared that Chip Kelly has told his team at UCLA that he is leaving for another job.
Pete Thamel, as well as others, add that Chip is heading to Columbus to reunite with old friend Ryan Day, who served as his quarterbacks coach with the Eagles during Chip's time with the franchise as well as with the Niners.
The Buckeyes just lost offensive coordinator Bill O'Brien, who had been on campus for just a few weeks, to the head coaching opportunity at Boston College.
Kelly had been rumored to be in the mix for a number of NFL offensive coordinator opportunities, including the with the Raiders and Seahawks as he actively sought a way out at UCLA.
Kelly was 35-34 leading UCLA, building them to at least 8-wins in each of the past three seasons following three straight losing campaigns to open his tenure.
The move, where a sitting Big Ten head coach leaves for a coordinator opportunity in the same league, marks the 30th FBS head coaching change of the off season.
