An announcement from USC athletic director Lynn Swann declares that Clay Helton will remain the head coach of USC in 2019.

Last night, following their 24-17 loss to Notre Dame, Helton noted; "It will be any task moving forward to make sure this doesn't happen again."
The loss to the Irish last night put the final touch on a 5-7 season for Helton and the Trojans. In his first full two seasons leading the program, Helton went 10-3 and 11-3, respectively before they started to struggle this season. Along with the loss to rival Notre Dame yesterday, USC lost their rivalry game with UCLA last weekend.
Swann's comments make it clear that changes in a number of areas will be made, so expect some changes to come to Helton's staff as they look to get back on track in 2019.
