Coach Prime reportedly adding former NFL head coach to staff (Colorado)

Multiple reports shared the news today that veteran NFL coach Pat Shurmur is joining the staff of Deion Sanders at Colorado.

He will serve as an offensive analyst for the Buffs program, the reports add.

The veteran NFL coach has called offenses in the league for the Eagles, Vikings, and Broncos

Currently 58 years old, Shurmur has had two NFL head coaching opportunities with the Browns (2011-12) and Giants (2018-19). During the final game of the 2015 season, following the dismissal of Chip Kelly, he stepped in as the interim head coach for the Eagles.

He most recently served as the offensive coordinator in Denver for the 2020-21 seasons under Vic Fangio during his final seasons leading the franchise.

Minus that one game as an interim head coach, Shurmur was 18-46 overall, winning nine games a piece in his two seasons in Cleveland and New York.

Shumur's last stop in college football was back in 1998 as the offensive line coach at Stanford. Before that, he spent eight seasons in East Lansing coaching the tight ends, offensive line, and special teams at Michigan State.

The addition brings a unique veteran presence to Prime's coaching staff, who we recently announced as the 6th most impressive new staff of the 2023 season.
