Conference championship kickoff times set

For the first time ever, all 10 FBS conferences will stage championship games in 2018. Call it the Playoff Before the Playoff.

The Big 12 (somewhat unnecessarily) revived its championship game last year, and the Sun Belt joins the party this year. This means the weekend of Dec. 1 will be a 48-hour football-palooza, with trophies handed out all over the place and national title contenders squaring off, all leading to Selection Sunday the following day.

It'll be the closest thing college football has to the opening weekend of the NCAA Tournament, with viewers parked on the couch all day, following the action across multiple channels.

Here's how the schedule breaks down:

Friday, Nov. 30
- MAC (Ford Field, Detroit): 7 p.m. ET, ESPN2
- Pac-12 (Levi's Stadium, Santa Clara, Calif.): 8 p.m. ET, FOX
